General Notes:

Alternatives Unlimited is a private, non-profit human services agency which provides a wide range of vocational, residential, and transportation services to people with developmental and psychiatric disabilities. Alternatives Unlimited seeks to provide a significant source of renewable energy to the historic John Whitin Mill Building Complex, which it is currently in the process of restoring and redeveloping. Committed to a LEED-certified energy-independent restoration, Alternatives has plans for geothermal heating and a 9-kW photovoltaic system for a combined 20 kW of renewable energy. Alternatives Unlimited conducted a feasibility study in partnership with Novotech, Inc. and determined the feasibility of the solar and geothermal energy system in the parking lot adjacent to the project site.
