What is better than using electricity to power a car? Using the sun.  Swedish luxury car maker, Koenigsegg, has collaborated with the photovaltaics pioneer, NLV Solar AG, to create a propotype that changes the way we think about running a multi-person vehicle. A high powered four seater, the Koenigsegg Quant is an electric sportscar with the ability to recharge on-the-go using state of the art solar cells integrated into the paint job. The Quant combines a new lightweight, rapid-charging battery technology with the revolutionary invisible thin film solar cells to achieve over 300 miles from a single charge.

Swedish luxary maker Koenigsegg colloborated with NLV Solar AG, a pioneer in photovoltaics and accumulators, to create the Quant. Now a supercar, even if its a solar electric vehicle, should never be subjected to unsightly patchwork that is the current PV systems. So NLV created a high-efficiency Pyradian solar cell that is applied as an invisible thin-film coating to the entire body of the vehicle, including the glazing and windows! This lets the car be charged up to full capacity in about 20 minutes giving a fantastic 500 kilometers range and can be increased substantially with on-the-go charging. Incidentally the company has also made the 'CCXR' the worlds most powerful production car running on E85 fuel.

*Its futuristic aerodynamic design and gull wing doors hide an interior as spacious as that of a traditional luxary sedan.

*The prototype unveiled in Geneva this year boasts of 512 hp and maximum torque of 715 nm which allows the Quant to deliver 0–100 km/h in 5.2 seconds and hit a top speed of 275 km/h.
